Welcome To

Saugus

A mostly residential town with many beautiful parks and an active, friendly community.

Welcome to Saugus

In 1987, the neighborhood of Saugus merged with Canyon Country, Valencia, and Newhall to form the city of Santa Clarita. The town name of Saugus comes from Saugus, Massachusetts, the hometown of Henry Newhall, who originally owned the land that now makes up Santa Clarita.

That said, the actual name Saugus is a Narragansett Indian phrase that means "sand spit of land." Despite the name, Saugus is a primarily urban, residential development with multiple parks, including the popular and active Central Park and the Santa Clarita Skate Park. With excellent local schools, affordable housing, safe streets, and limited commercialization, Saugus is a great place for families and professionals to call home.
